Anatomy Laboratory

Overview

Anatomy laboratories are among the most important laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine that serve medical students during the basic stage of medical education, i.e. during the first three years of studying medicine. This enables the student to study anatomy with precision, clarity and mastery. Also, the student will be able to recognize the smallest details before moving to the clinical stage.

The Faculty of Medicine has two identical anatomy laboratories (303, 301). Each laboratory contains complete real corpses that have been dissected with high precision and embalmed in a correct and safe manner for students’ use and in accordance with international quality standards. There are also sections of different body areas and all internal organs of the body as well as a wide variety of plastic models that simulate the reality of the human body.

It is also equipped with interactive screens and a very advanced and easy-to-use anatomical table for students, enabling them to study and consolidate information easily. There are also modern computers that allow students to study and search during the laboratory period. These laboratories provide students with the opportunity for practical training on body parts and models during free time throughout the week, so that they can study and master the science of anatomy.

The Anatomy Department also includes the Anatomy Lab - Skeletal and Muscular (AMS-A209) which serves students of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in all its specializations. It contains skeletal and muscular models that simulate the human body in shape, color and size. Some of these structures are connected to illustrate all the bones and muscles and how they are connected to each other. It also contains many separate models that simulate joints, bones and muscles in a detailed and precise manner.

In this lab, the student is guaranteed to obtain a qualitative academic plan in presenting the course gradually to become familiar with all the parts included under the name of the skeletal system, which are: the axial skeleton, the appendicular skeleton and the nature of the connection between them through ligaments, joints and cartilage. All the parts included under the name of the muscular system and how to connect these muscles to each other and to the skeletal system through tendons.

This laboratory is subject to the international ISO instructions for safety and security, which provides a safe and appropriate environment to ensure academic quality. It is worth noting that there are development plans and international academic accreditations on an ongoing basis in order to serve the educational process, student excellence and academic creativity.

In addition to Lab. (AMS-A005), which serves students of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in all its specializations, it contains more than a hundred models that simulate the organs of the human body in shape, color and size, some of which are connected to clarify the interconnected structure of the organs of the human body and some of which are separate to facilitate investigation of what is precise in these organs from blood vessels, nerves and others.

It allows the student, within an advanced academic plan, to become familiar with all the systems of the human body, each system separately with all its organs and structures, such as the respiratory system, the digestive system, the nervous system, the circulatory system (heart and blood vessels), the lymphatic system, the reproductive system, the immune system, the urinary system and the integumentary system (skin and hair). This laboratory is synchronized with the theoretical anatomy course, which allows for the consolidation of information and linking the educational outcomes.
