Mohammad Amro and Omar Shamali, medical students at the Arab American University in Ramallah, participated in the international training program (SRT Türkiye 2026), held in Turkey and organized by the Turkish Medical Students' Association (TurkMSIC) in cooperation with the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA).
Their participation was part of the Trainers New Training (TNT) program, which aims to prepare qualified trainers capable of designing and implementing high-quality capacity-building programs based on professional educational principles.
Student Omar Shamali explained that the program contributed to enhancing his leadership and communication skills and developing his ability to positively influence student teams. It also provided an opportunity to meet students from around the world and exchange experiences and cultures, reflecting the spirit of international collaboration and representing Palestine at the regional and global levels.
For his part, student Mohammad Amro noted that the training program covered the fundamentals of preparing and designing training sessions, facilitation skills, evaluation mechanisms, and the qualities an effective trainer should possess. It also addressed how to deliver high-quality, professional training. He added that he also participated in the TNHRT (Trainers New Human Rights Training) track, which focused on discussing basic human rights concepts, various global issues including the Palestinian question and the role of the United Nations in this context, as well as mechanisms for preparing and implementing specialized human rights training and effectively evaluating its impact.
It is worth noting that the students' participation in the training program contributes to their accreditation as recognized trainers by the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA). This enables them to deliver training at both the national and international levels, in person and online, and to contribute to building the capacities of medical students in various regions.
